Questions
What metadata can a photo contain?
The GPS location where it was taken, the date and time, the phone or camera model and serial number, editing software, and sometimes a thumbnail of the original, uncropped image.
Does removing metadata lower the quality?
No. Only the metadata blocks are cut out of the file; the picture data is copied byte for byte.
Do WhatsApp and Facebook remove it anyway?
Most social networks strip GPS data from what other people see, but they still receive the original. Email, cloud links and messaging apps that send files as documents usually keep everything.
